Race Report Stage 5 - Bhutan

Stage 5 was the longest stage - 54km through the Paro valley and a big step closer to our finishing line. Our runners had a split start with the top 18 runners starting at 7am and the others at 6am. They passed the Paro fortress, the airport and main town, paddy fields, and the foot of the hill where Tiger's Nest is. The finishing line is located at the Drukyal fortress. Although it is under renovation, that was built to celebrate Bhutan's victory against their invaders.
Another excellent day for Eric Wheeler finishing 6th and Sarah Sawyer finishing 8th overall. Impressive strong performance of Mayra Johnson from Brazil and Rebekka Gardarsdottir from Iceland who are getting better every day.
Tommy Chen once again finished first just 3 mins ahead of Guillaume Degoulet and strong local runner Karma Zamba Wang.
The female category was once again dominated by Elisabet Margeirsdottir. Second was Sarah Sawyer today just 2 mins ahead of Angela Zäh.
In the overall rankinf Tommy Chen is still leading ahead of Guillaume Degoulet. Third is now Swiss Michael Benz who overtook Alan Zagury by 3 mins.
No change in the overall female ranking with Elisabet Margeirsdottir in front ahead of Angela Zäh and Sarah Sawyer.
The runners are staying with local family while preparing for tomorrow's final stage.
