Breaking News - Race Report Stage 3 - Cambodia


Todays long stage of 62,4km guided the runners from the Preah Khan temple to the Beng Mealea temple, which served as a setting for one of the Indiana Jones movies. The finishline was set inside the temple complex. The first 30km the runners had to go through the hot and demanding Cambodian jungle before running the remaining 32km towards the west under the sun. luckily, we had some gentle breeze and shades today.

Tommy Chen from Taiwan again wins today‘s stage in an impressive course record time of 5:54hrs, followed by Samuel Castela of Portugal in 6:12hrs; and the third place goes today to strong running Tomas Sundman from Denmark in 6:13hrs. In the female category, Ruth from Belgium goes very strong today winning the stage while Sharon Harper from England and Teresa from Hongkong share the second place. Ruth now overtook the overall female leading ahead of Sharon Harper. So far leader Filipa Castela from Portugal suffered with heavy leg pain today and fall back to the 3rd overall rank.

While Tommy Chen is in na comfortable overall lead now, Samuel Castela overtook the second rank. Third now is Tomas Sundman. Frank Johansen from Denmark fall back to 4th and Peter Osterwalder in 5th now.

Strong day for Peter Schlieder from Germany today finishing the stage 6th and Uta Scholz also from Germany finishing as 19th overall.

Tonight runners stay in local village houses directly opposite the temple complex. Tomorrows 4th stage of 29k brings the runners up to the Kulen Waterfalls.
