Pre-race Report 6th Bhutan - The Last Secret -

The balmy Himalaya spring and the colorful valleys in Bhutan are welcoming runners from 20 different countries to the 6th edition of GlobalLimits Bhutan – The Last Secret. We are also proud to welcome our first Icelandic delegates – with 10 Icelandic runners in our race this time.

Again, this is a fully booked edition - the number of runners is strictly limited in our races to ensure best runner experiences and local environmental protection. The race will start with GlobalLimits’ traditional welcoming in the Thimphu airport; and before the race starts at the magnificent fortress of Punakha Dzong, the runners will enjoy an opening dinner where they could make new friends/competitors, ignite old connections and meet the GlobalLimits team.

Who is running this year? This year, we welcome Mayra Johnson (Brazil/Japan) and Guillaume Degoulet (France) back to our race series for the third time and they will be joining the "GlobalLimits Heritage Site Runner" Series Award club upon finish! Mayra will be the first representative from Brazil to receive the award.

There are many new faces this year including our first Taiwanese competitor, Tommy Chen, who is the first and only Taiwanese person who ran across seven continents in five years. He is also one of our podium favorites. We are expecting a tight race between Tommy and Tom Sawyer (UK), Uwe Paschke (Germany), Guillaume Degoulet (France), and Viktor Vigfusson (Iceland).

There is also no relax time for the lady competitors: we expect a close competition between Sarah Sawyer (UK), Magdalena Paschke (Germany) and Elisabet Margeirsdottir (Iceland).

HOWEVER, we always found hidden treasures and last secrets in our runners – one never knows – anyone could be on the podium!

Last but not least, 19 years old Jigme and 22 years old Karma Zamba Wang will represent Bhutan in our race this year. They are one of the first in their country that participate in a multi-stage race! Please follow and support them along the way!

The race of 200km in 6 stages starts on Sunday, 27th May at 8am local time.
