Final Race Report - Bhutan


The 7th GlobalLimits Bhutan - The Last Secret last stage took place today which the runners ran 15,3km from the Drukyal Fortress to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. They passed scenic valleys before climbing steeply up to 3000m altitude to reach the spectacular finishline at  the Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

The first arrival is Frank Johansen who set a new course record of 1:50 hrs racing up to the holy temple.

The final result: Xavi Marina became the male champion of the race in an overall course record time of 21:28:46hrs, Joel Anderson from the US is the second male with just 6mins behind. Frank Johansen is third. Xavi is the first runner who now won three GlobalLimits races plus was another time 2nd.

In the lady's group, local Bhutanese runner Chimi Dema is the female champion. Belinda van der Riet takes the second place. Kelly Ridgway-Smith took the third place.

Special congratulations to Bety Camiade from Mexica, Maik Becker from Switzerland, Dietmar Rosenau from Germany and Xavi Marina from Spain, who successfully completed three GlobalLimits races and received the GlobalLimits Heritage Site Runners Series Award.

The race is concluded with the award ceremony at one of the world’s unique hotel - the traditionally constructed Bhutanese Zhiwa Ling Hotel at the foot of the Tiger's Nest Monastery. The Guest of Honour is the former Chief Justice of Bhutan, His Excellency Mr Sonam Tobgye.  He has again shared his insights of the Consitutions of Bhutan with us.
