Wir sind ein hoch professionelles Organisationsteam das selbst schon in zahlreichen Extrem-Läufen seit mehr als 20 Jahren gestartet ist. Zudem haben wir die Erfahrung bei der Organisation unterschiedlichster Veranstaltungen.

Mit der Erfahrung, die wir bei verschiedenen Veranstaltungen auf der ganzen Welt gesammelt haben, sind wir sicher, Euch eine gut organisierte Veranstaltung anzubieten und Euch bestmöglich zu betreuen.

Unser mehrsprachiges Team wird von hoch motivierten Volunteers begleitet, ebenso werden wir von einer lokalen Organisation unterstützt, die Experten bei der Organisation von Veranstaltungen in abgelegenen Gegenden sind.

Unser hoch anerkanntes medizinisches Team wird Euch in allen medizinischen Belangen und Behandlungen während des Laufes unterstützen.

Stefan Betzelt, Gründer und General Manager von GlobalLimits

Stefan, geboren und lebend in Wiesbaden/Germany, hat GlobalLimits 2012 gegründet. Er hat seine Erfahrung als Teilnehmer in zahlreichen Ultraläufen wie Marathon des Sables, Les Foulees de la Soie, Himalayan 100Mile Stage Race, Racing the Planet Namibia and Desert Oman Raid gesammelt. Ebenso hat er an mehr als 20 Stadtmarathons teilgenommen und den Kilimanjaro und den Mount Aconcagua erfolgreich bestiegen.

Bei seinen Reisen durch mehr als 85 Ländern hat er viel über verschiedene Kulturen und Menschen gelernt. Diese Erfahrung nutzt er nun, um ausgefallene Strecken für die Läufe von GlobalLimits zu finden.

Stefan arbeitete früher als Managing Director bei einigen international führenden Banken bevor er 2004 sich als Finanz- und Personalberater selbständig gemacht hat.

Mario Machado, Lisbon/Portugal - Course Director

Mario, a physical Education teacher and international athletic coach, is the technical director of the Lisbon Half Marathon (30.000+ runners), the Portugal Half Marathon, the Lisbon Marathon and the organizer, technical director and controller of the race of various other high profile road races in Portugal and international trail races.

Since 2009 he is also the "Controller of the race" of the Marathon des Sables in Morrocco.

Mario is the publisher and director of "Spiridon-Portugal" running magazin since 1978.

He is also a very experienced runner himself. He just finished his 100th Marathon/Ultra at GlobalLimits Cambodia 2017.

Mario already served as a course director at Albania 2018 and volunteer for the inaugural race in Albania in 2017 and Cambodia 2018. He is also our designated course director for the inaugural race in São Tomé 2020.

Ryan Paterson, Denver/USA - Medical Director

Dr. Ryan Paterson attended the University of Vermont School of Medicine and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency and Fellowship in Wilderness/Altitude/Expedition Medicine at Denver Health Medical Center/University of Colorado. He also holds advanced certifications in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) and in Mountain Medicine (DiMM). He is a practicing Emergency Physician for Kaiser Permanente at St Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Paterson serves as co-course director for the Wilderness Medical Society and Universities of Colorado and Utah’s Diploma in Mountain Medicine Course (DiMM). He is the current United States delegate to the International Society of Mountain Medicine (ISMM). Currently, Dr. Paterson is working, in partnership with CU South Denver to develop a Wilderness Medicine for Kids program utilizing an original curriculum. He also serves as medical director for No Barriers and another non-profit (Kolkata City Mission) working to establish sustainable development solutions in education, health, women’s empowerment, micro-enterprise and public-health for informal communities in and around Kolkata, India.

Ryan already was our medical director in Cambodia 2016 and Bhutan 2017.

Jennifer Starling/USA - Race Doctor

Dr. Jennifer Starling practices Emergency Medicine for Kaiser Permanente at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado, and is an Adjoint Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine where she teaches wilderness, altitude and travel medicine.  She has a tropical medicine degree from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Diploma in Mountain Medicine.  

As a Himalayan Rescue Association volunteer, Jen provided medical care to Everest Base Camp trekkers and local Nepali at a high altitude remote clinic for a trekking season.  

She has worked as race medical for two multi-stage ultramarathons in the American Southwest, and GlobalLimits Cambodia 2015 and Bhutan 2016.  She is excited to return to GlobalLimits for the Albania race! 

Linda Sanders/USA - Race Doctor

Linda  is an Emergency Medicine physician in Colorado.  She completed a Wilderness Medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia during which she finished coursework in Swift water rescue, Avalanche rescue, Search and rescue, and staffed several domestic and international multi stage ultra-marathons. Linda has been an avid runner since high school and this spring she herself completed her first ultra marathon. Linda continues to teach wilderness medicine to students, participates in altitude research and has produced Race Medicine Podcast series for Emergency Physicians.

Linda already served as a race doctor at GlobalLimits Cambodia 2016.

Geert Meese, Tielt/Belgium - Volunteer

Geert is a Belgian medic who decided to work a little bit less and spending  more time doing his passions: multi stage racing ( 100 km del Sahara, Marathon des Sables , Grand to Grand ….) , marathon racing , or volunteering in multi stage races ( Spain, Portugal, Oman …). a passion he sheares with his wife.
If not working or racing , his time is spend abroad with a high preference for unbeaten tracks in Asia or South America.  Always enthusiastic  to help participants to make their dreams come true.

Geert already served as a volunteer for GlobalLimits in Cambodia 2015 + 2016, Bhutan 2016 + 2017 + 2018 and in the inaugural race Albania 2017.

Michael Emett, Hamilton/New Zealand - Volunteer

Rodrigo Acinas, Spain - Volunteer

Rodrigo was born in Burgos, Spain and is working as a financial controller for companies. 

He is passionate about trail running and road cycling.  Mountains and nature are his favorite playgrounds.

Despite not enjoying competitions as much as he do when training without a goal, he still enroll in demanding mountain races.  The competitive streak needs to be fed!

He always loved the air one breathes in GlobalLimits’ races - He had volunteered in Sri Lanka 2016 and Bhutan 2017 – apart from the physical challenge you meet up with old and new friends. 

"I will try to make everyone feel at east during the race and I will be pleased with my contributions as long as I am helpful to you – to achieve your goal, whatever it is." 

 

 

Nertil Dhimitri/Albania - Volunteer

Nertil was born and grown up in Permet/Albania.

He works in Natyral Agency of Natyral Resources(Tirana). In free time he likes running, swiming, hiking etc.

Nertil was already serving as a volunteer for GlobalLimits Albania 2018.

Vladimir Dedndreaj/Albania - Logistics & Infrastructure

Albania Adventure is a specialized and licensed agency in the organization of quality tours with appropriate guides in Trekking, Hiking, Kayak, Diving, Rocky Climbing, Ski Mountaineering, Off Road, Outdoor sports and Extreme adventures, all this thanks to the ground teams and professional guides.

This agency was created in 1998 by Vladimir Dedndreaj, who loves the outdoor life and loves sharing with others his passion and desire of exploring Albania’s beauty, always guided by the spirit of adventure. He was soon joined by other friends, professional guides too. During these years their adventures took them from east to west, from north to south, and they soon would know the inhabitants of the different regions and cultures of the provinces where they stepped. Throughout all these years of exploration, they came to know the Albanian territory better than anyone else. This passion for nature was shared in years with thousands of tourists from around the world, who chose to visit Albania and to live the Albanian adventure.

Throughout the years, Albania Adventure guides are constantly trained and professionalized, this also due to the support and training provided by their European partners. Members of Albania-Adventure are regularly trained in order to be always updated and fully fit. Our guides also speak fluent English, Italian and French. Adventure Albania staff is composed of 8 terrain adventure guides and 3 office operators.
