Pre-race Report Bhutan - The Last Secret -

The Last Secret is again back. In this edition, we have runners from 19 countries - we especially thank you those (35%) who return to our races again, which enable us to establish a solid foundation in providing well-organised, safe, and challenging adventures for runners.

In the next week, our runners will step out of their comfort zone and embrace an epic journey that bring them to the untouched nature trails, distinctive culture, and hospitable local people of the Kingdom of Thunder Dragon in the Himalaya.

The 6-days, 200km race starts from the sacred Punakha Fortress and finishes at the spectacular Tiger's Nest.

In between, they pass different landscapes of this beautiful country, gaining an exclusive, first hand cultural insights of the land. Needless to mention the extraordinary experience in playing football with monks in the attitude of 3600m, and staying with local families.

We expect a very close race this time with Xavi Marina from Spain, champion in Cambodia 2017 and Albania 2018 as well as 2nd ranked in Sri Lanka 2016, Frank Johansen from Denmark, who won the inaugural race in Albania in 2017; and Joel Anderson from USA, who won the Leadville series in Colorado and a Marathon best of 2:44.

The lady's side is difficult tp predict, We have Ita Marzotto from Italy again; winner of the Cambodia race 2018; and the first ever Bhutanese female multi-day stage race runner, 23 years old Chimi Dema. She is one of the leaders in Bhutan's various mountain bike and trail running races. Last but not least, Lisenka Beenders from the Netherlands, who recently finished a 100mile race and 5th female inCambodia 2018.

Nevertheless, our races are for all with an adventurous heart to enjoy! In this race, we are delighted to have Maik Becker from Switzerland who is the first human ever to finish the 7/7/7 race: 7 multi-day stage races in 7 month in 7 continents; and he chooses to return to our race to run his 8th multi-day stage race in the 8th month! We also have Belinda Holdsworth (England). She has just been nominated for an IE Epic Award for "Women inspiring Women"!

Preview: upon finishing the race in Bhutan, Xavi, Maik, Beatriz Camiade (Mexico), and Dietmar Rosenau (Germany), are qualified to receive the prestigious "GlobalLimits Heritage Site Runner" series award for successfully completing all 3 races organized by GlobalLimits: Bhutan, Cambodia, and Albania!
